Federal panel hears arguments in Wis. union case
A Chicago federal appeals court began hearing arguments around the constitutionality of Wisconsin's anti-collective bargaining law on Monday. The suit focuses on the parts of the law that end automatic deduction of union dues from paychecks and require annual re-elections for unions. The lawsuit is one of several challenging aspects of the law. A Wisconsin state court threw out major parts of the law earlier in September, a decision that will be appealed. The case is expected to take at least several weeks before a decision is made.
