Fiat: Turin plant workers accept new conditions
Workers at the Fiat's Mirafiori factory in Turin have broken the Italian tradition of national negotiations by agreeing to accept new working conditions which include longer hours, benefit cuts, and limitations on striking. The agreement won 54% of the vote, a margin credited by some to support from white-collar workers. Unions, including FIOM, condemned the deal as a removal of workers' rights.
