Fight For Ohio Union Rights Turns To The Ballot Box
Ohio workers are fighting back against a bill that severely limits collective bargaining rights by collecting signatures to recall elected officials and to get the law on a ballot referendum. The opponents of the bill need over 230,000 signatures to put the law on the ballot this fall, but many are confident that they will get there. Workers say that many people are now aware of collective bargaining and understand the impact of this law, and that they are not going to stand by and watch. A Republican lawmakers said that change scares some people, especially when they have been lied to. The law, known as Senate Bill 5, passed on March 30 and was signed into law on April 1.
