Film prompts federal labor investigation
The Award-winning documentary “American Factory” has prompted the NLRB to investigate a factory in Dayton that may have violated federal labor law. The film appears to feature Chinese officials talking about terminating American laborers for attempting to unionize. The glass-making firm Fuyao’s founder granted documentarians nearly full access to the factory in 2014. A number of conversations featured in the documentary appear to be in violation of labor law- however, the founder states that these conversations are misleading. Additionally, the firm has faced many employee complaints prior to the release of the film.
