Foes of Ohio anti-union bill can start referendum fight
The Ohio attorney general has approved the language for a petition to get a repeal of Ohio's anti-union legislation on the ballot in November. The attorney general had to certify the language before the 231,000 signatures needed could be collected. The law that opponents are attempting to repeal heavily restricts collective bargaining rights for 360,000 state workers, including teachers, police and fire fighters. The signatures have to be gathered within 90 days of the law being enrolled with the Secretary of State, and if the repeal is on the ballot, the law will not go into effect unless the repeal effort fails in November.
