Ford boosts hiring of engineers, computer workers
Ford has announced plans to add 3,000 white-collar jobs this year; 800 more jobs than it had originally planned. As the automotive industry moves into a new, high-tech era, many of the new positions will be filled by engineers and information technology specialists. The company is seeking product development in infotainment systems, electronic controls and safety systems. Between 2006 and 2009 during the recession, Ford laid off or bought out a total of 13,000 salaried employees.
