Ford to rescue Visteon, taking over 24 facilities
In an attempt to bail out its ailing former parts division, Visteon, Ford Motor will reclaim 24 of Visteon's plants and facilities in the United States and Mexico. As a consequence of Ford's reclaming the plants, union leaders have agreed to cut 5,000 of the more than 17,000 Ford employees who have been working at Visteon plants by offering them buyouts. Ford's move comes at a time when auto makers are increasingly leaving the country in search of cheaper labor.
