Foreign Automakers announce wage increases following new UAW union contracts
Various automotive companies have increased employee wages after the tentative contracts between the United Auto Workers union and the Big 3 Automakers were made. The contracts with Ford, Stellanis, and General Motors significantly increase worker wages, and wages will increase by around 25%. Hyundai, a popular Asian automaker, will match the wage increases and raise salaries by 25% in 2028. Toyota and Honda, other popular Asian automakers, have announced wage increases that will occur next year. Toyota and Honda will raise wages around 9%-11%. Labor researchers believe that foreign automakers raised wages to prevent auto workers from organizing and being represented by the United Auto Workers union. Foreign automakers are hoping that the wage increases will keep the workers non-unionized.
