Foxconn Says Underage Interns Worked at Yantai in China
Chinese manufacturer Foxconn has confirmed that interns between the ages of 14 and 16 worked in a factory over the summer. The company said that the interns worked for about three weeks. Foxconn said that those responsible for allowing the underage workers would be fired. Foxconn has faced scrutiny for labor violations over the past few years, after a string of suicides drew attention to working conditions. While the company says that working conditions have improved, worker protests continue to occur.
