France's Sarkozy to address social cost of crisis
French President Nicolas Sarkozy will host a ?social summit? of labor unions and business representatives in order to address growing unrest amid the fallout of the global economic recession. The move comes after a massive general strike in January which demonstrated the anger of French workers expecting the government response to the current crisis to be stronger. Labor unions have demanded greater job security and lower prices for consumers. The President's approval rating has plummeted as the French populace views current government measures, including a stimulus package, as more helpful to businesses than workers.
