Freeport Indonesia union: Pay hike could end strike
The union that represents striking workers at a mine in Indonesia says that they will end a month-long strike if the firm agrees to increase pay and does not sanction workers for their actions. The strike started over pay and working conditions, and has disrupted production for the mine. The company has stated that it will not pay workers who are on strike, and the union has said that they also threatened to layoff workers who do not end the strike. The company said that it is looking for a fair solution to the strike.
