French Companies Discriminate in Hiring, Labor Ministry Says
In an experiment done by the French Labor Ministry, French businesses were found to discriminate against job applicants with Arab-sounding names. The study of 40 companies showed that fewer than 30% of them responded to applicants with names they perceived as Arab. Labor ministry officials have since asked a dozen of the companies guilty of discriminatory practices to change the way they hire workers. Labor Minister Myriam El Khomri has since stated that she will pay careful attention to the 'corrective measures' made by the businesses.
