French government orders fuel workers to end strike action and return to work
After weeks of strike action by workers in the fuel industry, the French government has launched the process to requisition petrol supplies. The walkouts have severely diminished the country's production capacity and led to fuel shortages. According to French local authorities law, representatives of the state can require any person to perform a service if it is necessary for public safety, order, and hygiene. As a result, the French government will be issuing requisition orders to fuel workers to force them to return to work or else face prison time and fines.
