French Rail Strike Appears Headed for Solution
A strike by rail workers which began Monday in France seems to be headed for a solution. Both union leaders and officials of the SNCF railway operator made upbeat comments late on Tuesday after hours of negotiations on union demands over pay, bonuses and pensions and a pledge that the company stays in state hands. The strike has been both a headache for travelers and a threat for the government.
