French railway workers Unions agree on open-ended strike against gov't retirement reform plan
French railway workers' unions have agreed to begin a open-ended strike next week, starting next Tuesday. The railway workers will join workers in the oil, transportation and shipping industries in protesting plans to raise the retirement age from 60 to 62. The French Senate heard its second day of debate on the bill, as the lower house of parliament has already passed the bill. The government wants to stop the pension system from going broke, but unions fear that the bill will lead to other concessions from them.
