French unions call new pension protest
Many French unions have called for another day of national protest on November 23. The unions are continuing to protest the pension reforms. President Sarkozy has said that he will not back down from the reforms despite the protests. The reform is expected to be signed into law after it is released from the Constitutional Council on Tuesday or Wednesday. A day of protest last Saturday brought a diminished number of participants into the streets. Some notable unions missing from the decision to protest on November 23 were the Force Ouvriere, CFTC and the CFC-CGC.
