French workers protest against pension system reform
France has a very early retirement age due to its pension system. President Emmanuel Macron would like to implement a universal pension system which he believes would be more fair. The proposed system would be points-based, allowing all workers equal claim to the money contributed, which would make the system more equitable for women. This idea has been met with resistance and protest because trade unions and workers are concerned that the reform would mean a later retirement age.
