Front-line workers report stress and overwork affecting their job performance
A new survey has indicated that workers in front-line industries, such as food and beverage and hospitality, are overwhelmed by long task lists on their shifts and "chaos" ensues if any tasks are overlooked. In this study, workers shared that time management, multitasking, and organization were among the top-reported skills most important to job success in their front-line roles. These workers are experiencing high levels of stress and inadequate training which contribute to mistakes on the job that have large effects. It has been suggested that organizations need to do more to support their employees with training and on-shift shadowing to reduce stress-related errors.
