Fukushima Workers Sue Tepco Over Unpaid Wages, Reliance on Contractors
Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) now faces a lawsuit from four workers claiming unpaid hazard wages. This year TEPCO will pay $48 billion in restitution for the evacuation of 160,000 residents due to TEPCO?s nuclear power plant Fukushima Daiichi?s recent meltdown. The four plaintiffs, as well as their supporters, wore masks into the court out of fear of reprisals from TEPCO. The company has not received the complaint yet, but has agreed to allocate an additional $200/day for hazard pay.
