Future of plant looms over start of Ford union talks
Ford and the UAW began formal contract talks July 23rd after Ford recently announced they were moving the production of two of their cars out of its Michigan Assembly Plant. Ford is likely moving the productions to Mexico. Ford is unique in that it has a cap within its labor contract where only 20% of its workers can be paid at a lower-tier wage rate. Ford is expected to be aiming for the cap elimination or ask for GM and Fiat Chrysler to have the same restrictions during this month’s negotiations.
