G-8 backs the revival of global trade talks
On Wednesday, leaders of G-8 agreed to a set a July deadline for restarting global talks over reducing trade barriers. They also called for a reinvigoration of the talks, focusing on creating a framework for negotiations on export competition, domestic subsidies, and market access. Recent negotiations have focused on reform for agricultural trade; strengthening rules and commitments on support and protection.
