The president of garment workers' union Workers United announced that he was resigning effective May 7 on Tuesday. The president, Bruce Raynor, had been accused of improperly accounting for funds during business dinners. Raynor said that he had not listed his companion because he had been told not to involve her in resolving a dispute, and did not want her to face recriminations. He also said that while he did not believe he had done anything wrong, he had repaid the money. Raynor said that he will continue to serve workers in other ways. The Service Employees International Union, which had filed the charges against Raynor said that the matter had been resolved and that they recognized his years of service to the labor movement.
