The engineering gender gap: it’s more than a numbers game
When analyzing the demographics of the engineering industry, there is stark gender disparity favoring men. The gender gap begins at an early age where women are often discouraged from taking engineering related courses in primary and secondary schooling. Other issues such as the heavily masculine culture of engineering departments at colleges and universities further push talented, female minds from pursuing the industry.
