Georgia state employees take advantage of new paid parental leave
On July 1st, Georgia state and public university employees were able to take advantage of a new law that granted new parents up to 3 weeks of paid leave. Both mothers and fathers can use the leave and it applies to births, adoptions, and foster child placements. To qualify, an employee must hold 6 months of continuous employment with a government agency, college, or school. Overall, 13,440 hours of paid parental leave has been used since the law took effect.
