German pilots to resume talks with Lufthansa, strikes on hold
Lufthansa will resume negotiations with Vereinigung Cockpit, the German pilots' union, this week. In an effort to prevent any further strikes, Lufthansa's CEO met with the company's pilots and, to the relief of holiday travelers, the union has vowed to suspend striking during the negotiation period. The pilots walked out for six days in November, demanding a retroactive 3.7% wage increase to compensate them since their contracts expired in 2012. The pilots' 15 strikes since 2014 have cost the airline hundreds of millions in profit.
