Gig workers killed on the job give rise to safety concerns
According to a report from Gig Workers Rising, over 50 gig worker drivers have been killed on the job since 2017. They also found that over 63% of the workers killed were people of color even though people of color compose less than 40% of the U.S. workforce. As part of a day of action, gig worker drivers are planning to protest and demanding changes “including compensation for workers injured or killed while on the job.”
