GM Evaluating Second U.S. Battery Plant for EVs
General Motors is looking at building a second plant in the U.S. to produce battery cells for electric vehicles through a joint venture with LG Chem. GM confirmed their plans on Thursday morning. The announcement followed a Wall Street Journal Article on the location of the potential plant. GM has stated that it has not made a decision on the location of the plant, but hopes to make a decision by June. This announcement is significant, as GM has also announced plant closures for three of its North American plants due to a global semiconductor chip shortage.
