GM Plans to Add 1,200 Workers at Its Remaining Detroit Plant
On Thursday, General Motors announced that it would be adding an additional shift to its Detroit-Hamtramck plant in anticipation of demand for its Cadillac sedan. The new shift will require that the company hires 1,200 new employees, nearly doubling the total number at that plant. Currently the United Auto Workers is deciding whether to enter labor talks with General Motors or Ford following its recently ratified contract for employees of Fiat Chrysler.
