GM workers in Mexico vote for a new union
Workers in Silao, Mexico have voted for a new union at a U.S. automaker, General Motors, plant. On Thursday, workers voted for the SINTTIA union pushing out their previous union and knocking three other rival unions out of the running. The union vote was a requirement bred from the USMCA trade deal and monitored closely by the U.S. government. One worker said the previous union “did little to help its members” and he voted for SINTTIA to push them out.
