GMB union in the UK claims Amazon has been using anti-union tactics to interfere with union organization
GMB, a major union in the United Kingdom that currently represents UK Amazon workers, has claimed that Amazon violated labor laws and has been implementing anti-union tactics. GMB states that the company has posted various anti-union messages in Amazon warehouses in the Midlands. Union workers represented by the GMB in Coventry are planning on going on strike for three days next week to demand higher wages. Workers are seeking a minimum wage of fifteen pounds per hour, and the right to negotiate with Amazon regarding future pay and work conditions. GMB withdrew a request for formal union recognition at Coventry last year, claiming that Amazon bought in over a thousand additional workers to prevent the union from achieving a clear majority for union support. Amazon countered that the additional employees were brought to the Coventry warehouse for normal business needs.
