Good Jobs for Good Airports Act proposes a minimum wage for lower-level airport employees
Various unions are supporting a proposal that would establish a minimum wage for lower-level workers at airports around the country. The proposal called the Good Jobs for Good Airports Act, would set a minimum threshold for the wages of lower-level airport workers. These workers include security assistants, cabin cleaners, wheelchair assistants, and other employees who work to keep airports operational. A major union expressing support for the proposal is the Service Employers International Union, which represents thousands of airport service workers and has the second largest union membership in the United States. Another prominent union backing the proposal is the UNITE Here union, which represents over 40,000 airport workers who work in catering, concession, and airline lounges.
