GOP Congressman calls for hearings into SEIU spending scandal
Former California United Long-Term Care Workers local president, Tyrone Freeman, is currently under investigation for his spending habits, and on an indefinitely extended leave of absence while his local is controlled by a trusteeship. Freeman stands accused of channeling union money to companies owned by his wife, mother-in-law, and several personal friends. An investigation is underway, but with Congress soon to adjourn, no hearings have been scheduled. In the House labor committee, top-ranking Republican Howard ?Buck? McKeon (R, Santa Clarita) has called for immediate hearings and suggested that the delay is related to Freeman?s record of support for the Democratic Party, the current majority in the House.
