GOP lawmaker files bill to allow undocumented guest workers
An Oklahoma State Senator has proposed legislation that would create a state guest worker program for illegal immigrants. The Senator said the law would attract workers who have left the state since the passage of a bill that restricted rights. Under the proposed legislation, that state would create and administer a guest worker program that would allow undocumented workers to stay in the state with a renewable two-year permit. Workers would have to have a sponsor and health insurance.
