Greater Pay Transparency Seen as Bridging U.S. Gender Wage Gap
Recently, actress Jennifer Lawrence spoke out publicly criticizing the gender wage gap in America. The Academy Award winner found out that Sony pictures paid her millions less than her male co-stars in the film American Hustle. According to the Institute for Women's Policy Research (IWPR), in 2014 women were paid approximately 79 cents for every dollar that men earned. According to IWPR, if the wage gap continues to decrease at its current rate, women will not reach pay equality until 2059.
