Greek unions step up protests against reforms
Greek unions protested against more reforms on Tuesday. The protests shut down public transport, health clinics and pharmacies in Athens. The new reforms would reduce pensions and health care costs, open up closed-shop professions and change the tax administration. Unofficial work-to-rule actions have held up changes at hundreds of public sector organizations. The reforms are part of the deal that the Greek government made with the European Union and the International Monetary Fund in return for a bailout. Protests against the reforms have continued, with unemployment at 13.5% in Greece.
