Grocery union sets vote to strike
The San Diego-area grocery workers union is set to hold a strike vote this Sunday, further turning up the pressure on the region's major supermarket chains to renegotiate a new contract. Due to the terms of a three-week contract extension the two sides agreed to Monday, no strike could begin until April 9th. Albertsons, the chain targeted in the strike vote, argues that a strike would be counter-productive to negotiations and unfair to both grocery workers and consumers.
