Gus Tyler, Firebrand of Labor Movement, Dies at 99
Gus Tyler, lifelong "agitator" and labor leader, passed away June 3 in Sarasota. Tyler was a political and intellectual leader in the International Ladies Garment Workers Union for over forty years, and an active and vocal socialist, writing a column for The Jewish Daily Forward for much of his life. Labor historians have cited Tyler as one of the labor movement's great thinkers and a tireless advocate for true democracy in labor unions.
