Many in the business world feel that a handshake communicates something about personality. A study published by the American Psychological Association found that a firm handshake by both males and females helps makes a good first impression. More importantly, a 2001 survey of employers' hiring intentions conducted by the National Association of Colleges and Employers indicated that having a lousy handshake can hurt your chances of being hired.
