Hawaii univ. president's letter slammed by union
The president of the University of Hawaii says that the University will seek a 6.7% pay cut for professors starting on January 1st. The president said that the action will be taken because of the rejection of a smaller cut by the University of Hawaii Professional Assembly, which represents faculty at the school. The union's Executive Director said that if the University declares negotiations at an impasse, faculty will operate under the old contract until a new one is signed. He stated that if the University challenges the contract in court, the union would fight them.
