Healthcare Workers Authorize Possible Strike at 3 Los Angeles Hospitals
Registered nurses and other healthcare professionals at three Los Angeles based hospitals have authorized their bargaining team to call an unfair labor practice strike if deemed necessary. The workers have alleged that their workplaces are alarmingly underprepared for the pandemic. The workers at the three Los Angeles hospitals, Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, Riverside Community Hospital and West Hills Hospital and Medical Center claim they are grappling with staffing shortages and inadequate COVID-19 safety protections for employees and patients. Additionally, the workers report that the hospitals are requiring staff to ration the personal protective equipment that they do have access to.
