Hershey’s workers set to vote on unionization
More than 1,000 Hershey’s workers at a manufacturing plant in Stuarts Draft, Virginia will be voting on unionization. Workers will vote via mail-in ballot to join the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers’ International Union. Ballots will be sent out on February 25th and results will be counted on March 24th. The union drive is being run by longtime workers who want to secure great benefits for incoming workers. The Hershey company has publicly announced their opposition for the efforts and have hired the union-busting Labor Relations Institute to hold meetings with their workers. Many workers have criticized the company's practices, but have asked to be remain anonymous for fear of retaliation.
