High Court Rules Against Home Aide on Wages
In a unanimous decision, the US Supreme Court Monday ruled to uphold federal regulations that prevent most home care workers from receiving overtime and minimum wage considerations. The case, brought forward by a Queens, NY home care aide, clarified amendments made in 1974 to the Fair Labor Standards Act over whether the law exempted home care workers who worked for health care agencies from overtime protections, not just those employed directly by the patient.
