Higher UK Minimum Wage to Hit Hospitality Hardest-Report
The minimum wage in Britain will be increased from 6.50 pounds to 9 pounds an hour by the year 2020. A research company, the Resolution Foundation, argues that this plan may cut into profits, lower hiring, and increase the cost of goods. It is estimated that as many as 60,000 jobs may be cut as result of the wage increase. Industries that will be affected the most by this policy are retail, social care, and hospitality.
