Hiring probe rankles union
Illinois' largest public employees union has told Gov. Rod Blagojevich's administration to back off an internal investigation of state hiring and to stop threatening workers who refuse to cooperate. Interviews being conducted by two law firms hired by the governor's office could have a "chilling impact" on workers who may also be questioned in the federal criminal probe of state hiring, the union said in a letter to the administration this week.
