Hispanic groups, churches, unions take lead in organizing immigration rallies
The recent wave of immigrant rallies around the country has been guided not by one single leader, but by loose confederation of church organizations, labor unions, and Hispanic advocacy groups. What began with an organizational meeting just two months ago has resulted in unions blanketing workers with fliers at hotels, restaurants and stores, churches accelerating their campaign of preaching to immigrants and pressuring politicians, and Hispanic community leaders preparing protestors for rallies.
