Hobart candy factory used mass firings, threats to discourage union effort, labor board filing claims
Local 881 of the United Food and Commercial Workers filed a claim against the Albanese Confectionary, alleging that it used widespread firings, threats, and intimidation to discourage its’ workers from attempting to unionize. An unfair labor practice complaint was filed with the NLRB on April 17th and says that the illegal tactics have been taking place since February after a group of production workers decided to start organizing. The candy maker is based in Hobart, Indiana.
