Hoffa touts union organizing efforts to gain members
The Teamsters union is making great headway in its organizing efforts, with over 23,000 new members recruited in 2007, according to Teamsters President James P. Hoffa. Hoffa cited the union's ability to target new fields in which to organize, such as UPS Freight, which had already yielded 5,000 new members in 2008. Total Teamsters membership rests at 1.45 million, up roughly from 2006.
