Holiday season is a tough time for low-wage federal contractors
A complaint has been filed against the Lionel Henderson Corp. by the CWA for wage theft. Customer service representatives for the National Flood Insurance Program are allegedly being underpaid when the company deliberately classifies their positions incorrectly. For example, LaToya Williams receives $14.28 per hour, although that wage is less than that recommended for an employee at the entry level. Williams is not at the entry level, and should be classified as a General Clerk, according to the CWA. Although President Obama has written executive orders to protect contract workers, President-elect Trump has threatened to cancel those actions.
