Hotels propose fewer benefits for new workers
Negotiators representing several San Francisco hotels have proposed a new contract which would institute a two-tier health care system for the hotel's employees, making new hires wait five years before becoming eligible for the benefits that current employees now enjoy. The proposal is likely to be rejected by the union, Unite Here Local 2, who has been sparring with the hotels since their contract expired in 2004.
