House approves help for 9/11 rescue workers
On Wednesday, the House of Representatives approved a bill that will give $7.4 billion in health care and compensation to 9/11 rescue and recovery workers who fell ill after working at the trade center sites. Many who supported the bill said that they were standing up for the heroes. New York lawmakers, who have been trying to get the bill passed for years say that they will push the Senate to vote on the bill during their lame duck session. The bill will be paid for by requiring multinational companies to pay taxes on income earned in the United States. Republicans said that the bill is raising corporate taxes and will lead to job loss.
